Fusion Engineering Centre for Doctoral Training
Discover the Centre
The Fusion Engineering Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) is a 4-year EngD programme that will develop the UK ‘fusioneer’ community.
Working together with the Fusion Opportunities in Skills, Training Education & Research (FOSTER) programme at the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) and the UK industry supply chain, we offer bespoke training for UK STEM graduates, to learn how to design, build and operate the first UK fusion energy power plant.

Students joining the Fusion Engineering CDT are embarking on a journey to help solve some of the most significant challenges in delivering fusion energy. They will encounter complex technical and societal problems on a scale never seen before.
The Centre will nurture a diverse new generation of fusioneers equipped to tackle these critical challenges. Through training delivered by world-leading experts, we are developing a skilled and adaptable workforce ready to contribute to the design, development, and operation of future fusion power systems.
